Do You Know What Happens in Temporary Period?

Ok, before that, let me explain the temporary period. It's the period after Campfire, right after the Retirement Party, when the power of handling the troop will be given to the Form 4s - Acting Troop Leader (ATLs) and the boyscout troop PLs will be called TPLs - Temporary Patrol Leaders.

Last year, the Temporary Patrol were called  and their TPLs were:

Myths
Unicorn Patrol - TPL Erwin
Sagittarius Patrol - TPL Izwan
Pegasus Patrol- TPL Ashman

           VERSUS

Snakes
Cobra Patrol - TPL Surendar
Python Patrol- TPL Nor Adam
Viper Patrol - TPL Dev

There the usual agendas and meetings of course, but it's much more fun and less pressuring than what you do in the Permanent Period now.
Here the agenda's that happened last year:
  1. Trap-Making Competition
  2. Tenderfoot Course
  3. Photo-Taking Competition
  4. Weapon-Making Competition
  5. Talent Time
  6. Mini-Gadget Building
  7. Pleasure Trip
  8. Training Camp - 5 days 4 nights
THAT WAS AWESOME! Why? Well as you can see from the names itself, it involves a variety of skills. And there's even a agenda that should be called an outing - Pleasure Trip! Last year it was at the Taman Desa Water Park. Photo-Taking was around KL, and there was also a Saturday where it was devoted to the boyscout's Tenderfoot performance! We made traps, weapons and even complex gadgets. Our theatre side was also shown in Talent Time.

Fun? Think again. The last agenda was Training Camp.....5 days Training Camp.
Wait for more pics.

Target further, beyond the Tenderfoot..

It is hard, but Tenderfoot after all is just within the troop.
Why is it important? Why should it be taken?
After tenderfoot, there's more tests to be taken. These tests are the path to getting that King Scout status. I'll just explain the first steps after the Tenderfoot which is Usaha, Maju, Jaya.

Tenderfoot - here's the badge

This will be attached to your full scout on the left pocket.

After Tenderfoot, the first step is called Usaha. Here's the badge

FOR COMMITMENT AND INTEREST
To get this badge, you have to know the Usaha part in the Pengakap Muda handbook. For this badge, VSGians are given a special boost as the BP House officials have looked at our Tenderfoot and recognised it as the same standard as Usaha. You will be skipped from taking each test individually.
The way you are tested is you have to prepare a logbook consisting of all the details in the Pengakap Muda book; rewritten and the graphics drawn and then you have to submit it to the official at BP House. He will briefly test you as well, depending on the situation. Once you get this badge, it should be attached to your left sleeve.

After that is the Lencana Maju. Here's the image
FOR SKILLS AND INDEPENDENCE
To be able to take this badge, you must already have the Usaha badge and at least 2 of the merit badges (I'll explain this in the future post). You must be able to explain all the tests as in the Pengakap Muda book and once you've passed all of them, you pass this (just like Tenderfoot again). This badge, once you've got it, will be replacing the Usaha badge on the left sleeve.

And the final first step is the Jaya badge. Here's how it looks like
 FOR LEADERSHIP AND AUTHORITY
To get this, the qualifications are that you have the Maju badge and as well as at least 6 of the merit badges.
You will be tested for this badge as like the Maju one, only this is a whole lot tougher. King Scouts will be expecting the best from you and you should prepare well for this if you really want it. Once you get it, replace the Maju badge on the left sleeve.

THE NEXT STEP?
Stay tuned.
